The Morning Will Change Everything
A Solo Exhibition by Sebas Velasco
A production by Charlotte Pyatt
Exhibition
Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina proudly presents The Morning Will Change Everything, the debut solo museum exhibition by Spanish artist Sebas Velasco.
Inspired by the Sarajevo-based band Indexi’s song of the same name, the exhibition features original works on canvas that explore urban landscapes and human stories, drawn from a decade of travel and research across the region. Sebas’ paintings—depicting car parks, residential streets, and portraits—offer more than a romantic, expressive celebration of his passions; they serve as gateways to complex socio-economic narratives. From the rooftops of Grbavica at dusk to the soft glow of street lamps in Alipašino Polje, his compositions elevate moments of humanity and empathy, in a world confronting shifting ideas of territory and identity.
In partnership with the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina—an institution dedicated to cultural memory and preservation—Sebas offers a deeper insight into both his artistic process and his journey across the Former Yugoslavian countries. Reaching beyond the canvas The Morning Will Change Everything explores Balkan cultures, languages, music, and filmmaking. Empowering local perspectives from a vibrant community of makers, producers, and historians, within the iconic brutalist space of what was the former Museum of Revolution.
The exhibition opens on April 4, 2025, at 18:00 with a Q&A and film screening by Bosnian filmmaker Mario Ilić, followed by the show opening at 19:30. The opening weekend will feature a series of talks with local hybrid platform Manifesto, promoting cross-cultural understanding and confronting cultural isolation. Local professionals are invited to engage with international experts, and the event will include a live performance by Spanish guitarist Jaime Velasco.
